Scene: In the car. Ursula is yammering on about her favorite animals. Dog. Cat. Blah blah. Slug. (Actually, I am unsure how many blah blahs there may have been – slug may have ranked third but it *seems* like I ignored more than that). Also, snails, because they are like slugs.
Me: So how are snails and slugs different?
(why did I ask that? It’s like what I’d ask a 2yo. I guess I just wanted to hear my own voice for a brief moment).
Ursula: Snails have a shell, but slugs do not. If a snail does not have a shell, it is pink there (I am paraphrasing)
Me: Oh, how do you know that?
NOW – keep in mind that she watches a LOT of Animal Planet, loves animal books (she brings home a LOT of insect books from school), and she was just at the Nature Museum for a party.
Ursula: Oh, one time when I was little I found a snail and *wanted to make a slug*…
Yup – she took its shell off.
Seriously? Seriously?!?!? Really??????

Oh my lord, Melissa, that is the funniest. And most horrifying at the same time. ;)
This is hilarious. I love it!
